Youth Zubair Baloch Disappears in Gwadar Amid Rising Human Rights Concerns in Balochistan
In the coastal city of Gwadar, Pakistan, Zubair Baloch, son of Umar, was reportedly taken by Pakistani security forces from the Dasht Dhor Kundag area. His whereabouts remain unknown, adding to the growing number of enforced disappearances in Balochistan.
Recently, two lawyers in Quetta, Fida Ahmed Dashti and Advocate Salahuddin, were also forcibly disappeared but were released following protests from the Balochistan Bar Council and other legal bodies.
Human rights groups like Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) and the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) have expressed grave concerns over these incidents. They are calling for international human rights organizations to intervene and ensure the safe return of those missing.
BYC stated, “The state is afraid of the political and national struggle of the Baloch people and under this fear it is using force and violence to crush this movement. But despite all the state oppression and brutality, the Baloch state has failed to defeat the morale of the people.”
Pakistan has a long history of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, often targeting human rights defenders and minority groups. Despite international criticism and evidence of systematic abuses, the Pakistani government denies any involvement.
