Youth Ideathon 2024: Celebrating Young Innovators at IIT Delhi

The 4th edition of the ‘Youth Ideathon 2024’ concluded with a grand showcase at IIT Delhi, featuring over 1.8 lakh young innovators from more than 5,000 schools across India. Organized by ThinkStartup and MEPSC, in collaboration with CBSE and IIT Delhi, this event is a platform for school students from Classes 4-12 to explore innovation and entrepreneurship.

Event Highlights

Six teams received grants of Rs 1 lakh each for their innovative ideas. The event included social experiments with The Kid Company, allowing students to list, sell, and raise investments for their ideas, gaining real-world business experience. The Top 100 teams engaged in entrepreneurship, selling their innovations and raising Rs 40 lakh through crowdfunding on The Kid Company platform.

Key Figures

Dr. Biswajit Saha, Director of skill education and training at CBSE, praised the event, highlighting the entrepreneurial spirit of India’s youth. Anil Pokhriyal, CEO of MEPSC, emphasized the importance of providing students with tools and opportunities to turn their ideas into reality, contributing to a self-reliant India.

Competition Structure

The competition was divided into five stages, with entries from Junior (Class 4-8) and Senior (Class 9-12) categories. A record 1.8 lakh students participated, with over 53,000 teams submitting initial entries. After a rigorous selection process, 1,500 teams presented video pitches, and 500 teams received Rs 1,000 each to develop prototypes.

Anil Pokhriyal -: Anil Pokhriyal is a person who supports educational initiatives and helps in organizing events that encourage young people to innovate and start businesses.

Rs 1 lakh -: Rs 1 lakh is a way of saying 100,000 rupees, which is a large amount of money in India. It’s a prize given to the winning teams in the competition.
