Youngsters in Surat Create 11-Foot Ganesh Idol Using Neem Bark
In Surat, Gujarat, a group of young people built an 11-foot tall idol of Ganesh using 70 kg of neem bark to celebrate Ganesh Puja. The idol, which weighs about 600 kg, was created by 10 artisans in just 35 to 40 days. They used natural materials like neem bark, grass, and soil to ensure the idol was environmentally friendly. Kinjal N Patel, the head of the association, explained that the goal was to avoid harming the environment during the festival.
Vratik Patel, another member, added that they wanted to raise awareness about the importance of trees and plants. He said, “We created the idol using natural resources to make people care more about the environment.”
Odisha Celebrates with Glass Bangle Ganesh Idol
In Mayurbhanj, Odisha, a youth organization celebrated the 18th Ganesh Utsav by making a 15-foot tall Ganesh idol using 25,000 glass bangles. The pandal, or festival tent, was made of bamboo. Saumya Ranjan Mishra, President of the Friends Union Organisation, said they are celebrating Ganesh Puja for five days with traditional songs, dances, and a national-level dance competition. The festival attracts devotees from different states.
Srikant Barik, the cashier of the organization, mentioned that they have spent over 22 to 25 lakhs on the decorations and unique idols this year.
