Young Man Drowns During Ganesh Visarjan in Ludhiana
A young man named Harsh Mehra, from Kila Mohalla in Ludhiana, drowned in the Sutlej River while immersing a Lord Ganesha idol during Ganesh Visarjan. The strong currents swept him away, and his body was later recovered with the help of divers, according to Harpreet Singh, in-charge of Ludhiana’s Ladowal police station. Singh urged people to be cautious during religious activities.

In another tragic event, eight people drowned while bathing in the Meshwo River in Vasna Sogathi village, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Deputy SP DT Gohil reported that nine youths were at the river for Ganesh Visarjan when one started drowning. Others tried to save him, resulting in eight drownings. NDRF Team Commander Lakhan Raghuvanshi confirmed that eight bodies were recovered, and rescue operations are ongoing.
