Yogi Adityanath Renames Mughal Museum to Honor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently spoke at a rally in Amravati, Maharashtra, where he discussed the renaming of the Mughal Museum in Agra to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum. He emphasized that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had stood against the rule of Aurangzeb, a historical invader. CM Yogi explained that the renaming was intended to honor the Marathas and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

CM Yogi shared his experience from 2017 when he first visited Agra as Chief Minister and questioned the relevance of a Mughal museum in India. He stated, “We declared that India is connected to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Rename this museum. It should stand as a symbol of the Marathas and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.”

He also advised the public to avoid divisive politics, saying, “Do not divide; those who divided were cut down; unity is a virtue.”

The Maharashtra assembly elections are approaching, with voting on November 20 and counting on November 23. The opposition MVA coalition, including Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party (SCP), aims to regain power against the Mahayuti alliance, which consists of Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Ajit Pawar-led NCP.

In the 2019 elections, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, and Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, Shiv Sena 63, and Congress 42.
