Yashasvi Jaiswal Shines as India Defeats Bangladesh in Kanpur Test
Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played a crucial role in India’s victory over Bangladesh in the Kanpur Test. Jaiswal scored 72 in the first innings and 51 in the second, earning the Man of the Match award.
On the fourth day of the Test match at Green Park, Jaiswal’s exceptional fifty in the second innings guided India to a comfortable victory by seven wickets. He shared his thoughts, saying, “I think I was just thinking about what I can do for my team. The situation was different in Chennai, and different here. I was just trying to do what I should do for my team and was trying my best.”
The second session on Day 5 saw Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal taking the field, needing just 95 runs to win. Rohit was dismissed for eight runs, followed by Shubman Gill, who added six runs. Virat Kohli then joined Jaiswal, and together they reached the 50-run mark in the 7th over. Jaiswal scored his second half-century of the match before being dismissed for 51 runs.
India secured the win with seven wickets in hand, with Virat Kohli (29*) and Rishabh Pant (4*) remaining unbeaten. For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan took two wickets, and Taijul Islam took one.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh struggled against India’s bowlers. Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah each took three wickets, while Akash Deep took one. Despite efforts from Shadman Islam and Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh was bowled out for 146 in their third innings.
