We need to build a peaceful BRICS, be the guardian of common security.”

Environmental and Educational Initiatives

President Xi expressed China’s commitment to environmental priorities, proposing collaboration with BRICS nations on sustainability. “China is willing to expand green industry, clean energy, and green mineral cooperation with BRICS countries,” he said. This initiative aims to address global climate challenges while promoting economic growth through sustainable development.

To strengthen cultural ties and educational exchange, Xi announced the establishment of 10 overseas study centers in BRICS countries over the next five years. This move is part of China’s strategy to foster innovation and deeper connections through academic collaboration.

Call for Peace and Diplomacy

During the session at the Kazan Expo Centre, Xi Jinping reiterated the need for a peaceful BRICS and called for an immediate ceasefire, emphasizing diplomacy in resolving conflicts, particularly in Gaza and Lebanon.

The BRICS grouping began after a meeting of leaders from Russia, India, and China in St Petersburg in 2006, formalized during the first BRIC Foreign Ministers meeting in New York the same year. The first BRIC Summit was held in Yekaterinburg, Russia, in 2009.
