World Uyghur Congress Calls on President Trump
The World Uyghur Congress (WUC) has reached out to the newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, urging him to prioritize the issue of the Uyghur genocide by the Chinese government. Turgunjan Alawdun, the President of WUC, expressed gratitude towards the previous Biden administration for its efforts in addressing the Uyghur issue.

During Trump’s earlier presidency, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo labeled the atrocities against Uyghurs as genocide. The Biden administration continued this stance, officially recognizing the oppression as genocide and implementing the Uyghur Forced Labour Prevention Act. This act bans products from companies involved in forced Uyghur labor, with 78 entities currently on the banned list. Sanctions were also placed on Chinese entities linked to forced labor.

The WUC has urged the new administration to take strong action against the Uyghur genocide, working through international bodies like G7, NATO, and the UN. The organization is prepared to collaborate with President Trump’s administration to ensure the Uyghur genocide remains a top priority.
