The All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) is thrilled to host the World Pickleball Championship (WPC) Series in India for the first time. This exciting event will take place from November 12-17 in Mumbai, bringing together top pickleball talent from around the world.

Following successful events in Vietnam and Bali, where Indian teams won gold, silver, and bronze medals, the WPC 2024 in Mumbai is expected to draw approximately 650 players from countries like Australia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Poland, and Singapore. The championship is powered by the World Pickleball League (WPBL) and promises to attract pickleball enthusiasts globally.

Arvind Prabhoo, President of AIPA, expressed pride in hosting the event, stating, “We are extremely proud to bring the World Pickleball Championship Series to India. This is a great opportunity for the Pickleball community to witness global talent on an Indian stage.”

Pickleball’s Growth in India

Pickleball, a sport combining elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, is rapidly growing worldwide. In India, the sport is gaining popularity, and the WPC Series is expected to boost its development further. AIPA is committed to promoting pickleball in India, focusing on grassroots development and training talented players.

Under the leadership of President Arvind Ramesh Prabhoo, AIPA aims to have the sport recognized by the Government and the Sports Authority of India. Sunil Valavalkar introduced pickleball to India in 2007, and AIPA has been promoting it as a not-for-profit organization for 15 years. AIPA is affiliated with the International Pickleball Federation (IPF) and is a founding member of the Asia Federation of Pickleball.
