Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife were shocked by the attack and prayed for Trump’s speedy recovery. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed that he is ‘appalled’ by the shocking scenes and emphasized that political violence has no place in society.

Details of the Incident

Donald Trump was on stage at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania’s Butler when gunshots rang out. Secret Service agents stormed the stage, surrounded Trump, and escorted him off with blood visible across his face. Trump later said that the bullet pierced the upper part of his ear.

The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Cooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, fired shots from a rooftop over 130 yards away from the stage. He was shot by US Secret Service snipers, and an AR-style rifle was recovered. The motive behind the shooting is unclear.

Investigation

The FBI is leading the investigation into the shooting incident. Special agents from the FBI Pittsburgh Field Office responded immediately and will continue to support the probe with all available resources. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro confirmed that Trump has left the Butler area and expressed gratitude to law enforcement officers who responded to the incident.

The shooting has heightened concerns about political violence and increased awareness regarding past attacks and assassination attempts against presidents and candidates.
