COP29 Climate Conference Begins in Baku
The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is starting in Baku, Azerbaijan. This important event will run from November 11 to November 22, bringing together leaders from around the world, including India, to discuss urgent climate issues.
Focus on Climate Finance
One of the main topics at COP29 is climate finance. The conference aims to secure new financial commitments to help countries reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect against climate change impacts. A new financial goal, called the “New Collective Quantified Goal” (NCQG), is being discussed to replace the previous USD 100 billion annual commitment.

India’s Participation
India is represented by a 19-member delegation led by Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh. Gujarat’s Finance Minister Kanu bhai Desai and other officials will also attend.
