The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be moved from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The tournament will take place in Dubai and Sharjah from October 3 to 20.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice expressed regret over the change, stating, “It is a shame not to be hosting the Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh as we know the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) would have staged a memorable event.” He added that the ICC looks forward to hosting an event in Bangladesh in the future.

Allardice also thanked the Emirates Cricket Board for stepping in to host the event and acknowledged the support from Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. The UAE, home to the ICC headquarters, has become a significant hub for cricket, hosting numerous tournaments, including the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2021.
