Western Nations Urge China to Release Uyghur Muslims and Tibetans
A group of Western countries has called on China to release Uyghur Muslims and Tibetans who are being held without reason. They also want human rights experts to be allowed to visit these areas to check on the situation. James Larsen, the Australian Ambassador to the United Nations, spoke at a UN meeting, urging China to allow independent observers into Xinjiang and Tibet. He represented 15 countries, including the United States, Canada, Germany, and Japan.
Concerns Over Human Rights

China’s Response
China’s representative denied these claims, saying the Western countries are using human rights issues to create conflict. Ambassador Fu argued that the reports on Xinjiang are false and are being used by countries like the U.S. to interfere in China’s affairs.
