West Tripura Police and Administration Gear Up for Peaceful Durga Puja Celebrations

The West Tripura District Police and Civil Administration are enhancing security for the upcoming Durga Puja festivities. Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar and District Magistrate Dr. Vishaal Kumar announced that 248 applications for puja registrations have been received so far.

During a joint press conference, Dr. Kiran Kumar stated that extensive preparations are underway to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration. In 2023, there were 889 registered pujas, and this year, around 900 are expected. A meeting with all puja club members is scheduled to finalize arrangements.

Strict security measures, including CCTV installations, drop gates, and the deployment of approximately 1,000 Tripura State Rifles personnel, will be in place at all puja pandals, especially in sensitive areas. Swift action has been taken against the Udichi Club for illegal donation collection, with their puja permission revoked.

Dr. Vishaal Kumar emphasized that both the police and administration will take strict action against any club or organization found engaging in forced donation collection. He urged everyone to maintain peace and harmony during the festival season and requested that no protests or rallies be held in busy market areas during this period.

The joint effort by the district administration and police aims to ensure a joyous and secure Durga Puja celebration for all.
