Bridgetown [Barbados], June 22 (ANI): West Indies captain Roston Chase led his team to a stunning victory against the USA in their second Super 8 match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at Kensington Oval.

Chase was awarded the Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance, taking three wickets for just 19 runs in his four overs. The West Indies batters also put on a powerful display, securing a nine-wicket win over the USA.

Chase expressed his joy, saying, “My best figures, to do it at home is a great feeling with all my friends and family watching. We spoke about it in the team meeting that it’s our job as spinners to restrict them if they go well in the powerplay. Today I wasn’t having the best of days, I almost missed the bus. Great place to play cricket here, it’s a great stadium and the fans are always around. Our goal is to go and win this World Cup, we need to beat anyone in front of us.”

West Indies won the toss and chose to bowl first. The USA was all out for 128 runs in 19.5 overs, with Andries Gous and Nitish Kumar being the only players to score over 20 runs. Roston Chase, Andre Russell, and Alzarri Joseph were the top bowlers for West Indies.

In the run chase, Shai Hope scored an unbeaten 82 runs off 39 balls, leading West Indies to victory with Nicholas Pooran also unbeaten at the other end.
