West Indies Cricket Awards Multi-Year Contracts to Top Players
In a historic move, Cricket West Indies (CWI) has awarded multi-year contracts to its top men’s and women’s players for the first time. This decision follows a new four-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in January 2024 between CWI and the West Indies Players Association (WIPA).
Men’s Contracts
Fifteen senior men’s players have been offered contracts, with six receiving multi-year deals. These players are Shai Hope, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Gudakesh Motie, and Jayden Seales. Additionally, Kavem Hodge and Roston Chase have been included in the contracted pool. Hodge made his Test debut against Australia and played a key role in West Indies’ historic Test win in Australia, followed by a maiden Test century against England. Chase excelled in the T20 World Cup, scoring 241 runs with an average of 60.25.
Women’s Contracts
In the women’s category, Shemaine Campbelle, Hayley Matthews, and Stafanie Taylor have been awarded multi-year contracts. Ashmini Munisar received her first West Indies contract.

Miles Bascombe, CWI Director of Cricket, stated, “CWI has committed to maintaining open and honest dialogue with players and being practical about the realities of the modern game. The players have responded in kind, and the acceptance of multi-year contracts is an indication of clarity, confidence, and commitment on both sides.”
