West Bengal Police Arrests Terror Module Leader Md Habibullah

The Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal has successfully busted a new terror module named ‘Shahadat’ on Saturday. This module was allegedly operating in Bangladesh. The STF has arrested Md Habibullah, the leader of this module, from his residence in Kanksa, Paschim Bardhaman district.

Md Habibullah, also known as the Ameer or head of the module, was found to be linked with ‘Ansar Al Islam’, a banned terror organization in Bangladesh affiliated with Al Qaeda. This group, previously known as Ansarullah Bangla, was trying to become active in India under the name ‘Shahadat’.

The members of this group communicated through a secret messaging platform called ‘BiP’ and were working secretly to commit acts against the sovereignty and integrity of the governments of India and Bangladesh.

A specific case has been registered in Kanksa Police Station under the Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
