West Bengal Minister Shashi Panja Criticizes Former NCW Chief Rekha Sharma

West Bengal Minister Shashi Panja has criticized former National Commission for Women (NCW) chief Rekha Sharma, stating that she should not speak on women’s safety. Panja accused Sharma of being biased against opposition-ruled states and ignoring crimes in BJP-ruled states during her tenure.

Accusations Against Rekha Sharma

Panja alleged that Sharma harassed opposition states and was part of a conspiracy by the BJP in the Sandeshkhali incident. She claimed that Sharma helped the BJP destroy women’s dignity and sell them for Rs 2000 to please her bosses.

Sandeshkhali Visit

In February, Sharma visited Sandeshkhali in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, which was in political turmoil after multiple women accused Shajahan and his aides of land-grab and sexual assault. During her visit, Sharma demanded the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

End of Tenure

On August 6, Rekha Sharma stepped down as the chairperson of the NCW, marking the end of her nine-year tenure.
