West Bengal Governor and Chief Minister React to Howrah-Mumbai Train Accident
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], July 30: West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose expressed his condolences for the victims of the Howrah-Mumbai train accident near Chakradharpur, Jharkhand. The accident resulted in two deaths and five injuries. Governor Bose wished a speedy recovery for those injured.
Senior DCM Chakradharpur Railway Division, Aditya Kumar Chaudhary, confirmed that all passengers have been evacuated and moved to Chakradharpur by special trains and buses. He stated, ‘Two people have died and five injured are being treated at the railway hospital. Rescue operations are complete, and restoration is ongoing.’
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized the BJP-led central government, calling the accident ‘disastrous’ and questioning the governance. She posted on X, ‘Another disastrous rail accident! Howrah-Mumbai mail derails in Chakradharpur division in Jharkhand today early morning, multiple deaths and a huge number of injuries are the tragic consequences.’
The accident occurred around 3:45 am, and Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME) along with staff and Additional Divisional Railway Managers from Chakradharpur Railway Station reached the site to manage the situation.
