In Gotemba, Japan, the 2024 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship concluded with China’s Wenyi Ding emerging victorious. Ding, who shot a final-round 67, maintained a consistent performance with four consecutive rounds of 67 at the par-70 Taiheiyo Club Gotemba. His 12-under total secured him exemptions into the 2025 Masters and the 2025 Open. Despite his win, Ding faces a dilemma about turning professional, as he is eligible for a DP World Tour card through the Global Amateur Pathway.

Meanwhile, 14-year-old Kartik Singh from India finished 18th, making him the best Indian performer at the event. Kartik played 27 holes on the final day, achieving an even par 280 with rounds of 71-67-72-70. He expressed satisfaction with his performance, especially his short game, despite challenges with his driver.

Other Indian players, Krishnav Nikhil Chopraa and Rakshit Dahiya, also performed well. Chopraa shot his best round of 3-under 67, while Dahiya carded an even par 70, both finishing tied for 37th place.

Fellow Chinese golfer Ziqin Zhou gave Ding a tough competition, finishing just one stroke behind at 11-under. Ding expressed his joy at winning after losing in a playoff the previous year, stating, “It feels really good. Last year I lost in the playoff and just felt I couldn’t play any better. And this year I got the trophy, it’s amazing.”
