Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall Expected in Madhya Pradesh After September 15

The Meteorological Department has predicted that the weather condition will remain normal for the next two days in Madhya Pradesh. However, heavy rainfall is likely to occur again in parts of the state after September 15.

Current Weather System

A regional meteorologist, B S Yadav, explained that the weather system which was active in Madhya Pradesh has moved towards South West Uttar Pradesh. This shift has led to a decline in rainfall, although sporadic rainfall is still possible in the state.

“A system which was active in Madhya Pradesh has now moved towards South West UP. The effect will weaken within around six hours, therefore there has been a downfall in rainfall activities. But there are chances of sporadic rainfall right now in the state,” said B S Yadav, Meteorologist, IMD Bhopal.

Rainfall in the Last 24 Hours

In the last 24 hours, Damoh recorded the highest rainfall of 27 mm in the state. Yadav mentioned that normal weather is expected for the next two days, but a new low-pressure system forming in the Bay of Bengal will likely bring heavy rainfall to eastern Madhya Pradesh from September 15. This system will then move to Central Madhya Pradesh, causing rainfall across the entire state.

Yellow Alert Issued

A yellow alert for heavy rainfall has been issued in the Gwalior Chambal division, specifically for Bhind, Morena, and Gwalior, as a precautionary measure, although the likelihood of heavy rainfall is low. The state will experience sunny weather with sporadic rainfall in some areas.

Rainfall Statistics

Shivpur Kala has received 103% more rainfall than normal, while Madhya Pradesh as a whole has experienced 17% more rainfall than usual. Bhopal has received 50% more rainfall than normal, with daytime temperatures expected to rise and nighttime temperatures to decrease.
