Wang Wen Discusses India-China Relations and Western Influence

Wang Wen, the Dean at the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China, has shared his views on the relationship between India and China. He believes that Western countries aim to maintain their influence by keeping India and China divided. Wang emphasized the potential for both nations to learn from each other. India can offer insights in international communication, cinema, and culture, while China can share its expertise in infrastructure, development, and poverty alleviation.

Wang stated, “We really think that we should learn a lot from India. India’s international communication capacity, India cinema, industries, India’s culture, traditions. There is a lot. I also think India can learn a lot from China for example infrastructure, development, anti-poverty and push to mutual understanding in mutual learning between China and India. I think that will push growth of our country development and mutual rise.”

He also highlighted the importance of peaceful coexistence, stating that both countries, with populations exceeding 1.4 billion, must work towards mutual understanding and cooperation. Wang suggested increasing direct flights, easing visa restrictions, and enhancing cultural exchanges to strengthen bilateral relations.

Regarding Western interests, Wang suggested that the West seeks to maintain its dominance by keeping India and China divided. He mentioned the “offshore balance strategy,” where the West might support one country to contain the other, depending on the circumstances.
