Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has donated Rs 1 crore to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund to support relief and rehabilitation efforts following a massive landslide in Wayanad. Rescue and relief operations have been ongoing for seven days, with 53 camps set up to support the affected population.

In a mass burial ceremony organized by the Wayanad district administration, the body parts of unidentified victims were buried in the Puthumala region. The ceremony included prayers for all religions and took place at around 3 pm on Monday.

Kerala Minister K N Balagopal mentioned the difficulty in providing an exact number of missing body parts, highlighting the ongoing challenges in the rescue efforts.

Relief camps have been established in various locations, including Meppadi and other Gram panchayats, with a total of 6759 people, including 1983 families, relocated to these camps. Additional rescue camps have been set up at several schools and colleges in the district.
