Vistara’s Final Flight from Odisha Before Air India Merger
On Monday night, Vistara operated its last flight from Odisha to Delhi, marking the end of its operations in the state before merging with Air India. The flight, UK 782, departed from Biju Patnaik International Airport at 8:30 pm and landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport at 10:55 pm.
Vistara, a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, is set to fully merge with Air India, also owned by Tata Group. The airlines have made arrangements to ensure a smooth transition for customers. Vistara flights will now be operated by Air India and will have a special four-digit code starting with ‘2’. For instance, flight UK 955 will become AI 2955.
Vistara’s routes and schedules will remain unchanged, and the same crew will continue to provide in-flight services. Air India has increased resources at various touchpoints and is working with partner airports to facilitate the transition. Help desk kiosks and customer service staff in branded T-shirts will assist passengers during this change.
Vistara’s airport ticketing offices and check-in terminals will gradually transition to Air India. Notices will guide passengers to select Air India for check-in under the AI2 code. At international airports, support staff and signage will assist customers. Vistara’s call center will redirect to Air India representatives for a seamless experience.
Over 270,000 customers with Vistara bookings have been migrated to Air India, and 4.5 million Vistara loyalty members are being integrated into Air India’s program. The unified Air India offers access to over 90 domestic and international destinations, with additional connectivity through codeshare partners.
