New Delhi [India], September 11: Indian Overseas Congress National Secretary Virendra Vashist has resigned from his position after completing five years in the role. He stated that his decision aligns with the Udaipur Declaration.
In a letter to Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, Vashist expressed his gratitude for the opportunities he received and affirmed his commitment to the Congress party’s ideals and goals. He wrote, “I am writing to formally resign from my position as Secretary of the IOC Department, AICC, in accordance with the Udaipur Declaration as I have completed five years in this role. It has been an honor to serve in this capacity, and I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have gained during my tenure.”
Vashist also mentioned, “However, I remain fully committed to the ideals and goals of the Congress party. I will continue to work diligently as a Congress worker and am prepared to take on any responsibilities or tasks assigned to me in the future.”
The Congress Working Committee (CWC) adopted the Udaipur Declaration at the end of a three-day Chintan Shivir. The declaration aims to provide 50% representation to those below 50 years of age at all levels of the organization. It also states that no person should hold one party position for more than five years, giving opportunities to new people. Another major decision of the declaration is enforcing ‘1 person, 1 post’ and ‘1 family, 1 ticket’ rules in the party.
