Virender Sehwag Advises Babar Azam to Focus on Fitness and Domestic Cricket

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has commented on Pakistan’s Babar Azam’s recent cricket performance, suggesting he should improve his fitness. Ahead of the second Test against England in Multan, Pakistan’s selection committee surprised many by dropping Babar from the final two matches. Kamran Ghulam was given his first Test cap to replace Babar as Pakistan aimed to even the series.

Despite facing criticism, the 29-year-old Babar showed determination against England’s strong bowling, scoring 118 runs off 124 balls. Sehwag, speaking on Shoaib Akhtar’s YouTube channel, advised Babar to play domestic cricket to become a mentally stronger player. He emphasized the importance of mental strength, noting that Babar has been more affected mentally than technically.

Sehwag believes Babar should spend time with family and return to international cricket as a fitter and stronger player. He praised Babar’s talent and expressed confidence in his ability to bounce back.

In the Test match, Kamran Ghulam’s performance set the stage for Pakistan, but it was Noman Ali and Sajid Khan’s spin bowling that secured the victory. Sajid took 7/111 in the first innings, while Noman’s 8/46 in the second innings led to a 125-run win, leveling the series 1-1. The final match will be held in Rawalpindi on October 24.
