Virat Kohli Scores Second-Slowest Fifty for India in T20 World Cup

Bridgetown [Barbados], June 29: India’s star batter Virat Kohli made history by scoring the second-slowest fifty for the nation in the T20 World Cup. Kohli started strong, hitting the fence twice in the powerplay. However, after Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant were dismissed by Keshav Maharaj in the second over, Kohli switched to a more cautious approach.

For the next phase of the game, Kohli focused on rotating the strike, while Axar Patel took on the bowlers. Kohli reached his fifty in the 17th over with a single, taking 48 deliveries to do so. This is the second-slowest fifty for India in the T20 World Cup, with Suryakumar Yadav holding the record for the slowest fifty, which he achieved in 49 deliveries against the USA.

In the next 14 deliveries, Kohli scored 28 more runs, finishing with 76 off 59 balls, his second-highest score in a T20 World Cup final. His highest score remains 77 off 58 balls against Sri Lanka in 2014. Before this match, Kohli had scored just 75 runs in seven matches in the ongoing World Cup.

After reaching his fifty, Kohli accelerated in the final three overs. In the 18th over, he hit a towering six off Kagiso Rabada, followed by a double and a four. He continued to find the boundary before being dismissed with a score of 76 off 59 balls, helping India reach a total of 176/7.
