New Delhi, India – Star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has been included in Delhi’s list of probables for the upcoming Ranji Trophy tournament, part of the 2024-25 domestic cricket season. The Ranji Trophy, a premier red-ball tournament in Indian cricket, starts on October 11. Delhi will face Chhattisgarh in their Elite Plate Group D match on the same date.

The list of probables also features notable players like Rishabh Pant, Navdeep Saini, Ayush Badoni, Anuj Rawat, and Yash Dhull. Rishabh Pant recently played in the Duleep Trophy and scored a century in the first Chennai Test against Bangladesh.

The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) announced the list of 84 probables after a Senior Men’s Selection Committee meeting held on September 24, 2024. The committee included Gursharan Singh (Chairperson), K Bhaskar Pillai (Selector), Rajeev Vinaik (Selector), Sarandeep Singh (Chief Coach), and Rajan Manchanda (Joint Secretary).

A fitness test for the selected players will take place on September 26, 2024. Players on international duty are exempted from this test. Players under 23 years of age, if not selected for the Ranji Trophy squad, can attend trials for the Under-23 category.

Virat Kohli last played in the Ranji Trophy in November 2012. In his first-class career, he has scored 11,120 runs in 146 matches, with 36 centuries and 38 fifties. This Ranji Trophy match on October 11 could provide him with valuable game time as he aims to regain form.

Virat has struggled with his form this year, scoring only 319 runs in 15 matches at an average of 18.76. In Tests, his average has dropped to an eight-year low of 48.74.
