Virat Kohli and Team India Meet Prime Minister Modi After T20 World Cup Win

New Delhi, India – Star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli expressed his joy after he and the T20 World Cup-winning Indian team met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. The meeting took place over breakfast at the Prime Minister’s residence.

Virat Kohli shared his gratitude on Instagram, saying, “What a great honour meeting our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji today @narendramodi Thank you sir for inviting us to the prime minister’s residence.”

Although Virat did not have a great T20 World Cup in terms of his batting scores, he played a crucial role in the final against South Africa. He scored 76 runs off 59 balls, helping India reach 176/7. India won the final by seven runs, ending a 13-year ICC World Cup trophy drought.

After the meeting, the team headed to the Delhi airport to fly to Mumbai for a grand victory parade at Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium. Shiv Sena leader Pratap Sarnaik mentioned that Mumbai players, including Captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dubey, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, will meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) Secretary Ajinkya Naik announced that there will be free entry for the public to celebrate the victory parade. The team had earlier arrived in Delhi to a warm welcome from fans. They stayed at the ITC Maurya hotel before meeting PM Modi, where they cut a special cake featuring the T20 World Cup trophy.

India’s victory was marked by standout performances from Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, with Bumrah being named ‘Player of the Tournament’ for his 15 wickets at an economy rate of 4.17.
