On October 13, a clash between two communities during a Durga idol immersion procession in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, resulted in one death and several injuries. The incident occurred in the Mahasi area when an argument broke out as the procession passed through a Muslim neighborhood.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya urged citizens to maintain peace, promising strict punishment for the culprits and justice for the victims. He emphasized that any attempts to disrupt the state’s harmony would fail.
