Vinesh Phogat Confident About Winning Julana in Haryana Elections
Vinesh Phogat, a Congress candidate and former Olympian wrestler, expressed her confidence that the people of Julana will support her in the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. She believes that with the blessings of her supporters, she will emerge victorious.
Earlier, her father and coach, Mahavir Singh Phogat, shared his disappointment over her decision to join politics before the 2028 Olympics. He felt she could have waited until after the Olympics to make this move.
Despite this, Vinesh Phogat inaugurated the party’s election office in Julana and performed a havan ceremony. She joined the Congress on September 6, shortly after announcing her retirement from wrestling due to a disqualification at the Paris Olympic Games.
Voting for the 90-member legislative assembly in Haryana will take place on October 5, with the last date for filing nominations being September 12. The counting of votes will be held on October 8. In the 2019 assembly polls, BJP won 40 seats, while Congress secured 30 seats.
