Vinay Mohan Kwatra Presents Credentials to US President Joe Biden
On September 18, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, the new Ambassador of India to the United States, presented his credentials to US President Joe Biden. Kwatra, who took charge on August 13, expressed his honor and eagerness to strengthen the India-US Strategic Partnership.
Kwatra succeeds Taranjit Singh Sandhu, a BJP leader and former envoy to the United States. In a post on X, Kwatra said, “Honoured to present my credentials to US President Joe Biden as Ambassador of India to the United States on September 18.” He added, “Look forward to further strengthening the India-US Strategic Partnership.”
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar praised Kwatra’s contributions to India’s foreign policy and national security over the past decade. Jaishankar acknowledged Kwatra’s strategic acumen in shaping and executing crucial policies during his tenure.
Kwatra has a rich experience of nearly 32 years, having served in various roles in India’s missions abroad and in the Ministry of External Affairs. He has previously worked at the Prime Minister’s Office as Joint Secretary and as Minister (Commerce) at the Embassy of India in Washington, DC, from May 2010 to July 2013. He also headed the Policy Planning and Research Division of the Ministry of External Affairs and later served as the head of the Americas Division in the Foreign Ministry.
