Vinay Mishra Named Vice Chairman of Delhi Jal Board
New Delhi, India – On Wednesday, Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel nominated Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Vinay Mishra as the Vice Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board. Alongside him, MLAs Ajay Dutt and Preeti Jitender Tomar were also nominated as members of the board.
About Vinay Mishra
Vinay Mishra represents the Dwarka constituency in the Delhi Legislative Assembly. He was elected as an MLA in 2020, securing 71,003 votes. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM).
Upcoming Assembly Session
The Delhi Assembly is scheduled to hold a two-day session on September 26 and 27. Earlier today, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena’s secretariat requested the Chief Secretary of Delhi to address all pending CAG reports during this session. The LG secretariat also asked the Chief Secretary to inform the Chief Minister and seek her action on this matter.
Dust-Free Delhi Campaign
On Monday, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena instructed various departments, including the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Public Work Department (PWD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), and Delhi Jal Board (DJB), to initiate a dust-free Delhi drive. This campaign is expected to last for one week to ten days and aims to be extended into a year-long effort.
The LG advised MCD and PWD to clean the roads and transport the accumulated dust to designated dumping sites. Agencies responsible for cleaning drains and sewer lines, such as MCD, I&FCD, and DJB, have been asked to coordinate and ensure the removal and disposal of silt or mud. Saxena emphasized that even during rains, the removal of wet mud or silt should continue to prevent clogging of drains and sewer lines.
Departments have been instructed to deploy teams immediately and document their work with ‘before and after’ pictures and videos. The status of ongoing works will be regularly reported to the LG Secretariat, and Saxena will review the progress after the first phase of the Dust-Free Delhi exercise.
