Villagers in Jamshoro Protest Against Road Blockage by Liaquat University

Residents of Jamshoro villages in Sindh, Pakistan, are expressing anger over the alleged blockage of their main road by the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS). The villagers, including leaders Ali Mardan Jamali, Paban Khoso, and Naveed Buledi, claim that the road existed before the university was established and its closure will disrupt the education of over 300 children and youth.

At a press conference, Jamali and Khoso accused Vice Chancellor Ikram Din Ujjan of instigating police action against their village and filing false FIRs against them. They have called on Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to take action.

On the other hand, LUMHS media coordinator Saroof Bhatia explained that the road closure was necessary for the security of students, citing past incidents of crime. Bhatia mentioned that an alternative route has been provided to the villagers. Rasool Bux Behan, President of the Teachers Association at LUMHS, emphasized the university’s responsibility to protect its students and staff. Faculty and students have shown support for the security measures.
