Viktor Axelsen Wins Gold at Paris Olympics, Lakshya Sen Misses Bronze
Denmark’s badminton star Viktor Axelsen successfully defended his men’s singles title at the Paris Olympics. He defeated Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the final with a dominant performance, winning 21-11, 21-11.
Axelsen, ranked world number two, became the second player to win consecutive men’s singles titles at the Olympics, following China’s Lin Dan, who won in 2008 and 2012.
In the semifinals, Axelsen overcame India’s Lakshya Sen. Despite being ranked 22, Lakshya put up a strong fight, leading at several points in the match. However, Axelsen’s experience and skill helped him secure a 22-20, 21-14 victory.
Unfortunately, Lakshya’s campaign ended on a disappointing note as he narrowly missed out on a bronze medal. He lost to Malaysia’s Zii Jia Lee with scores of 21-13, 16-21, 11-21, finishing fourth in the event.
