Vikram Rathour Joins Rajasthan Royals as Batting Coach
Former India coach Vikram Rathour will once again team up with Rahul Dravid after being appointed as the batting coach for the Indian Premier League franchise Rajasthan Royals. The announcement was made on Friday.
Rathour and Dravid have a history of working together, having guided the Indian team to the ODI World Cup final last year and winning the 2024 T20 World Cup. Dravid joined the Royals earlier this month.
Rathour’s coaching career includes a previous stint with Punjab Kings and serving as India’s batting coach from 2019 to 2023. He has also coached Himachal Pradesh in domestic cricket and was a national selector.
Dravid praised Rathour’s technical expertise, calm demeanor, and deep understanding of Indian conditions, stating, “Together, we’ve built a strong rapport, guiding India to key successes, and I’m thrilled to reunite with him. His ability to nurture young talent and elevate players’ potential will be invaluable as we aim to further strengthen our squad and continue building a world-class team here at Rajasthan Royals.”
Rathour, who played six Tests and seven ODIs for India, has been instrumental in the development of players like Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and KL Rahul. He was also named New Zealand’s batting coach for their one-off Test against Afghanistan earlier this month.
