Vijender Gupta Accuses AAP of Misleading on Bus Marshals Issue
In New Delhi, Vijender Gupta, the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, has accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of misleading the public regarding the reinstatement of bus marshals. Gupta criticized the AAP government for not signing an order to reinstate the marshals, instead of staging protests. He claimed that AAP leaders, including Saurabh Bhardwaj, are jeopardizing the future of 10,000 bus marshals who were terminated by former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj and other party members were detained by police during a protest in Delhi, demanding the reinstatement of the marshals. Bhardwaj expressed support for the marshals, stating they were removed as part of a conspiracy and assured that Arvind Kejriwal would ensure their reinstatement.
The bus marshals have been protesting since their termination by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena last year. Bhardwaj mentioned that AAP and BJP MLAs were supposed to meet with the LG to resolve the issue. The AAP’s official social media handle also called for the reinstatement of the marshals, emphasizing the need for them to celebrate festivals with their families.
Last month, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, then a cabinet minister, wrote to LG Saxena, urging the restoration of the bus marshals’ jobs. She highlighted that the marshals were deployed through the Civil Defence volunteers and criticized the sudden halt of their salaries and duties.
