Vijay Wadettiwar and Anand Dubey Criticize Maharashtra Government After Badlapur Railway Station Firing

On September 6, a firing incident at Badlapur railway station in Maharashtra raised serious concerns about the state’s law and order. Vijay Wadettiwar, Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly, questioned the effectiveness of Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis, accusing him of being preoccupied with politics.

Wadettiwar stated, “In the last six months, Maharashtra has reported 242 incidents of street crimes where people were stabbed, strangulated, crushed under vehicles, and bullets were fired. The law and order situation in Maharashtra has completely deteriorated. What is the Maharashtra Home Minister doing? He should not be so busy doing politics… Incidents like these had never happened in Maharashtra before.”

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey also criticized the Mahayuti government, alleging that it is more focused on politics than public welfare. Dubey said, “Yesterday, a firing incident took place in Badlapur, after which the whole of Badlapur hit the street and agitated. The law and order have completely collapsed in Maharashtra. Where is Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis?”

He added, “Government is busy playing politics, contesting elections, forming government, and breaking parties. Our railway stations are not safe, our bus stands are not safe, and crimes are happening regularly. Will you have a look at the law and order as well? Did you form the government in Maharashtra for the welfare of the people or to put people in trouble?”

The firing incident occurred on Thursday around 6 p.m. when a young man opened fire on two people, injuring one. The shooter has been arrested, and preliminary information suggests the incident was due to a dispute over money matters.
