Vietnam PM Pham Minh Chinh Visits India to Strengthen Ties

Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived in India for a three-day state visit. He was welcomed at the airport by Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, shared on social media that the visit will enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Vietnam. He highlighted the longstanding friendship and mutual trust between the two nations.

PM Chinh is visiting at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers and business leaders. During his visit, he will receive a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan, pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat, and hold bilateral discussions with PM Modi. PM Modi will also host a luncheon in his honor.

Additionally, PM Chinh will meet President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

Last week, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid respects to the late General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, in separate ceremonies. India and Vietnam have a long history of ties, elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership during PM Modi’s visit to Vietnam in 2016. Vietnam is a key partner in India’s Act East Policy and Indo-Pacific vision.
