Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Vietnam, marking a new phase in the strategic partnership between the two countries. The invitation was extended during a joint press statement at Hyderabad House in New Delhi.

Praise for PM Modi’s Leadership

PM Chinh praised PM Modi’s leadership, noting India’s rise to the fifth-largest economy and its significant global role. He highlighted achievements such as electricity coverage for 28 million poor households, 5G connectivity, social security, and food security for 800 million people.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

The two leaders discussed enhancing their strategic partnership, focusing on deeper trust and greater effectiveness. They agreed to cooperate in areas like disaster resilience and economic diplomacy. PM Chinh expressed interest in joining India’s Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) and establishing a deputy foreign ministerial level for economic diplomacy dialogue.

Peace and Stability in the South China Sea

Both leaders emphasized the importance of peace, stability, and freedom of navigation in the South China Sea. They agreed to work together for a peaceful settlement of disputes based on international law, particularly UNCLOS 1982.

PM Chinh acknowledged India’s significant role in the fight against COVID-19, noting that Vietnam benefited from Indian vaccines and treatment medicines. He also highlighted the progress in bilateral relations since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership.
