Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Emphasizes Importance of Dialogue in Parliament

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar spoke to the Maharashtra Legislature, highlighting the importance of maintaining decorum in Parliament. He stressed that parliamentarians must always believe in dialogue and discussion and be open to other points of view. However, he warned that debate and dialogue should not lead to disruptions and stalling of Parliament.

Dhankhar emphasized that India, as the world’s largest democracy, should be a role model for democratic values and ethics. He stated that Parliament and state legislatures are the ‘north star’ of democracy, and members should exemplify ethical conduct and transparency.

He further added that the strength of democracy lies in the diversity of opinions and the ability to find common ground through constructive engagement. Dhankhar warned against the negative consequences of stalling Parliament and called for strict adherence to democratic values and parliamentary traditions.

Dhankhar also raised concerns over the criticism of the Chairman or Speaker, stating that respect for the chair should always be maintained. He urged senior members in Parliament and legislature to lead by example.
