Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Warns Against False Narratives in India
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed concern on Saturday about some people in India promoting the idea that recent events in Bangladesh could also occur in India. He urged caution against such individuals, noting that they have held high positions, including being members of Parliament and ministers.
Speaking at an event for the Platinum Jubilee of the Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur, the Vice President warned that anti-national forces are using constitutional institutions to gain legitimacy. He emphasized that these forces aim to disrupt the nation and derail its development and democracy by creating false narratives. He stated, “National interest is paramount and cannot be compromised.”
Dhankhar praised the judiciary’s role in strengthening democracy in India and mentioned that the judiciary only bowed to dictatorship once during the Emergency. He noted that the new generation knows little about this dark period and called on the youth to be informed about it. He supported the Government of India’s decision to observe June 25 as Constitution Murder Day, which serves as a reminder of the attack on the Constitution in 1975.
