Vice President Dhankhar and Delhi LG Plant Trees for ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and his wife, Sudesh Dhankhar, planted saplings at ASITA, an ecological site along the Yamuna River in Delhi. They were joined by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and his wife, Sangita Saxena. This event was part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.

About the Campaign

The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5, World Environment Day. The campaign encourages people to plant a tree as a tribute to their mothers and share a picture using the hashtag #Plant4Mother.

Prime Minister’s Message

Prime Minister Modi said, “I call upon everyone, in India and around the world, to plant a tree in the coming days as a tribute to your mother. Do share a picture of you doing so using #Plant4Mother.”

Delhi Development Authority’s Efforts

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has set a target to plant 11 lakh plants, including about 94,000 trees and 10 lakh shrubs, for the financial year 2024-25. So far, they have planted approximately 605,109 trees and shrubs, achieving nearly 55% of their target. The DDA is also ensuring that the saplings are nurtured for optimal survival.
