VHP Calls for State-Wide Protest in Telangana

Protest Against Alleged Negligence by Telangana Government

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has announced a state-wide protest in Telangana on Saturday, October 19, 2024. The protest is in response to what the VHP claims is the Telangana government’s negligence in preventing attacks on Hindu temples.

Incidents Leading to the Protest

Earlier this month, two incidents of vandalism involving Hindu idols in Hyderabad sparked protests. The first incident occurred at a Durga Puja pandal in Nampally Exhibition Grounds, where a vagabond accidentally damaged an idol while searching for food. The police stated that the act was not deliberate, but BJP leaders have called for a detailed investigation.

The second incident involved the vandalism of the Muthyalamma temple in Secunderabad’s Mondal division. This incident led to widespread protests, with BJP leaders, including Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy, visiting the site and condemning the act. The individual responsible, Salman Salim Thakur, was caught by locals and handed over to the police. Thakur had come to Hyderabad for a personality development workshop.

Demands for Investigation

BJP leaders are demanding an investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into these incidents.
