Former India cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy has praised Deepti Sharma, stating that she will be a vital part of the Indian women’s cricket team in the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Deepti made her T20I debut in 2016 and has since played 117 matches, scoring 1020 runs at a strike rate of 104.29 and taking 131 wickets.

Speaking to Star Sports, Krishnamurthy highlighted Deepti’s crucial role, especially her bowling on turning wickets. She also noted Deepti’s good form in franchise leagues, which she hopes will continue into the World Cup.

India’s women’s team has departed for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, starting on October 3. India will begin their campaign against New Zealand on October 4 at the Dubai International Stadium, with warm-up matches against the West Indies and South Africa.

In the last T20 World Cup, India reached the semifinals but lost to Australia. This year, the team has had mixed results, with losses to Australia and England but wins against Bangladesh.
