According to Akshahsh Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central Zone, the accused was a vagabond who was searching for food when he disturbed the Prasadam, inadvertently damaging the idol. The police received a call about the incident at around 6:00 am, and by 8:15 pm, they had apprehended the suspect using CCTV footage.

The police have also filed a case against the event organizers for negligence, as they failed to have volunteers present at the site, which is a requirement when placing idols in public spaces.
