In January 2018, Yalqun Rozi was sentenced to 15 years in prison by Chinese authorities on charges of “splittism” and promoting “extremist ideas.” He disappeared from his home in Xinjiang in October 2016 and reappeared in a court hearing in Urumqi in January 2018, where he was sentenced.
