Uttarakhand Prepares for 38th National Games
Chief Secretary Radha Raturi Leads the Charge
In Dehradun, Uttarakhand, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has emphasized the dual nature of hosting the 38th National Games as both a golden opportunity and a challenge. She has urged officers to expedite preparations, aiming to enhance the state’s sports infrastructure for future benefits.
High-Powered Committee Meeting
During a High-Powered Committee meeting, Raturi approved various financial and in-principle decisions. She stressed the need for swift completion of the tender process for sports equipment and effective coordination among departments for a successful event.
City and Venue Preparations
Raturi directed coordination with municipal corporations in Dehradun, Haridwar, Haldwani, and Rudrapur for city beautification, road repairs, and waste management. She tasked UPCL with ensuring uninterrupted power supply and obtaining electrical safety certificates, while the Payjal Nigam was directed to secure structural safety certifications.
Tourism and Safety Measures
The Tourism Department is to promote Uttarakhand’s attractions alongside the games. Coordination with Fire and Emergency Services is required for fire safety, and the Airport Authority of India and Northern Railway Zone will provide special reception areas and pass facilities for players and guests.
Security and Health Arrangements
Senior Superintendents of Police in key cities will manage security, traffic, and parking. The Food and Civil Supplies Department will issue “Fit to Eat” certifications, and the Health Department will ensure the availability of medical staff and facilities at the venues.
