Uttarakhand Launches Campaign to Stop Fake Desi Ghee and Butter
In Dehradun, Uttarakhand, a new campaign has started to stop the sale of fake desi ghee and butter. This campaign was initiated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat. The Food Safety and Drug Controller Department is leading the effort.
State-Wide Effort
The campaign is happening in all districts of Uttarakhand. Health Secretary and Food Commissioner R Rajesh Kumar said that strict actions will be taken against those selling fake ghee and butter. The Union Health Ministry has also asked all states to check laddus and ghee sold in markets.
Raids and Inspections
Additional Commissioner of Food Department Tajbar Jaggi mentioned that officers are raiding sweet shops and stores selling desi ghee and butter. Samples from many companies are being tested. The campaign is led by Deputy Commissioners and Food Safety Officers who are inspecting manufacturing units and storage vendors.
Specific Actions in Districts
In Garhwal Division, Deputy Commissioner RS Rawat led raids in Dehradun district, including rural areas like Herbertpur, Sahaspur, and Sudhowala. In Kumaon Division, Deputy Commissioner Anoj Kumar Thapliyal led inspections in Haldwani, collecting samples from major ghee sellers. Brands like Paras, Pehelwan, Mother Dairy, and Health Made Desi Ghee were tested.
Further actions will be taken based on the test results. The campaign aims to ensure that only pure desi ghee and butter are sold in Uttarakhand.
