Uttarakhand DGP Abhinav Kumar Addresses Retired Police Personnel Concerns

In Dehradun, Uttarakhand’s Director General of Police, Abhinav Kumar, held a meeting with the Police Pensioners Welfare Committee at the Police Headquarters. The meeting focused on addressing the concerns of retired police personnel and their families. DGP Kumar assured the committee that efforts would be made to resolve pensioners’ issues and instructed district in-charges to prioritize the welfare of women dependent on deceased police personnel.

To improve communication, DGP Kumar directed the creation of WhatsApp groups at the police station level, including all police pensioners, to address their concerns locally. He also ordered the establishment of dedicated cells in each district to manage medical reimbursements for retired personnel. Additionally, he emphasized that every retiring officer must join the Police Pensioners Welfare Committee.

Earlier, DGP Kumar visited Governor Lt General (Retd) Gurmit Singh at Raj Bhavan to discuss the state’s law and order situation. He also raised concerns with the state Chief Secretary, Radha Raturi, regarding a UPSC decision that allegedly violates a High Court stay order. DGP Kumar expressed confidence that the UPSC would reconsider the Chief Secretary’s dissent note and his representation after legal review.
